The best business hotels in Europe: What to look for


Although business travel may still pose some challenges, finding a reputable hotel for your trip doesn’t have to be one of them. CNBC Travel and market data firm Statista have released a ranking of the “Best Hotels for Business Travelers” in Europe today. This is the first ranking of its kind between CNBC and Statista, who are also releasing hotel rankings in the Middle East today. Asia-Pacific rankings were published in September. In total, we analyzed more than , four- and five-star hotels in locations to produce lists that corporate travelers can trust.

The survey ran from May to June , , reviewing more than million hotel data points. The data included objective information (location, business facilities, food, leisure activities and room characteristicsand subjective reviews (gathered from Google, TripAdvisor, Expedia and similar websites). The data was weighted to prioritize the hotel characteristics deemed most important in the reader survey. For full details about our research methodology, click here. ErdamCanal House Suites at Sofitel Legend The Grand Amsterdam, Hotel Okura Amsterdam, and Sofitel Legend The Grand Amsterdam all tied for the highest scores for customer reviews among Europe’s largest financial centers, a distinction they shared with Rome’s Villa Spalletti Trivelli. Travelers rave about the canal-side location, but they say it’s the smaller points — the turndown service, fresh tulips in the room, the luxurious bedding — that make it one of Amsterdam’s finest hotels. Louisa’s Place, InterContinental Berlin, and SO/Berlin Das Stue also received high marks from reviewers.

Some of the most well-known hotel brands are owned and operated by Louisa’s Place. The hotel, named after Queen Louise of Prussia, is located in West Berlin and has spacious rooms. Each room has high ceilings and separate bedrooms. Steigenberger Wiltcher’s is another popular hotel among business travelers in Belgium because of its convenient location on Avenue Louise and its luxurious simplicity. The Merrion hotel in Dublin, Ireland, scores . out of a possible points. This five-star hotel is located near many metro and train stations, making it easy to commute around the city. The Merrion also combines kitchens, laundry areas and other comforts of a house with the amenities of a hotel.

The Sofitel Frankfurt Opera is the highest rated hotel in Europe, with rooms and suites inside four restored Georgian townhouses dating back to the s. The hotel also features a two-star Michelin restaurant – Ireland’s first – as well as two bars, a spa, and six meeting spaces. Located on Opera Square, or the Opernplatz, near the city’s famed opera house, the Sofitel Frankfurt Opera is the perfect choice for business travelers.


The Merrion is a great option for travelers who want five-star accommodations without having to compromise on comfort or convenience. The hotel’s location near many public transportation options makes it easy to get around Dublin, and the combination of kitchen and laundry facilities with traditional hotel amenities makes it a great choice for families or extended stays.
